This Week's Beauty Buzz: How do you protect your skin and hair from the cold?

The winter olympics are just a few days away. And, the thing that's been on my mind is how do all of these female skiers, skaters and hockey players keep their skin and hair looking so supple, moisturized and protected from the harsh elements?

Moisturizer! I use moisturizer twice a day. I found that Oil Of Olay works for me.

The cold kills my hair- turns my wavy/curly hair into frizz- looking forward to reading some members' tips! :smileyhappy:

here's how I do it: at cold, cold days, the most importaint thing is to drink a lot of tea if water doesn't keep you warm. Tea is healthy, tastes really good and soothes your body, blessing it with many calming or invigorating sensations.

that's one thing.

the other thing is - SPF 15 or more in the daycream, that your skin loves. in the evening - first massage in herbal serum that contains a lot of vitamin A and than a nutricious cream that will renew the skin during the night.

last but not least, a homemade mask of lemon and honey works wonders for your skin. you can leave it in for as long as you like, since neither of the components can harm your skin. lemon is to be a bit careful with - not to put it too much because it can cause itching from the acid component of lemon juice.

that's it. of course, eating right is a must.:smileyhappy:

I use oil of olay as well for it's sunsceen, I mix a little bit of foundation make up to it,, just a little and its enough to give me an even skin tone..apply it with a sponge.. with a little bit of translucent powder.  I am an oil freak, use it to soak in the tub with essential oils for my skin and hair.  CO is so dry,, the less detergents you use for your skin and hair is better.  I use oils... and before I go out on a cold windy walk/run I oil my hair...

For your skin always use a cream moisturizer for your entire body (not your face because that can lead to clogging your pores and causing acne)like over the counter Ceptaphil Cream or Impruv (at Walgreens only) as soon as you get out of the shower while your skin is dampYou have 3 minutes from the time you get out of the to apply the cream moisturizer.  You put the cream moisturizer on her skin while it is damp because it tramps the moisture from the shower on your skin and allows it to penetrate through the skin all day.  If you use lotions they contain alcohol and it can cause you skin to become drier.  For your face Olay Complete Defense moisturizer w/ 30 SPF is a great moisturizer and sunscreen.

A great moisturizer for your entire body is Amlactin.  It can really help dry skin!
